Yesterday it snowed! It was raining when we got up, raining when we got to church, raining after we got out of church, raining when we went to Hometown Buffet. Sometime after we got to HB, we looked outside and the snow was coming down fast and furious. It didn't start sticking until after we got home, b/c of all the wet. I think we got a couple of inches, and the kids have been having a snow-ball. They made a snowman last night that fell pretty quickly, and today they have the sled out and the bike. Not a good combo, I know. KIDS.

Clue got his tube taken out yesterday. I still have to give him "hot packs" to help the hole from closing too soon and forming an abscess. He can go on short walks, but we still have to keep his activity down.

Yesterday I started quilting. It has been so long since I've done one, and I am definitely not very good at it, but oh well. I've been wanting to do another one for quite a while now. I found a site that has a BOM (block of the month), actually there's 2 blocks a month, one posted on the 1st and one on the 15th. Different people sign up and are assigned dates, and they choose and post a block pattern and also their completed block as an example. This started last March and I am going back and doing all the blocks and will put it together as a sampler quilt. Here's the 3 blocks I've completed so far.

I chose 2 pictures. One is of my WHITE persian Furby showing the owie on his head. The other is of Clue's WHITE swollen hind leg, a result of his very low WHITE blood cell count.

I am doing a picture of the week for a year at House of Paper. The first week is 12/31 and the theme is NEW. Here is my take on it:

This is a picture taken on NEW Years day outside our NEW apartment. The lights you see in the distance is the bridge going over the Rio Grande into Mexico. The darker land area behind those houses is the Mexican side. That's how close we are to the border! This picture represents our NEW life in Texas.

Well, Monday morning came very quickly, we didn't get a good night's sleep. The kids' schools were on a 2 hour delay due to the icy conditions. They were elated, but disappointed that school wasn't canceled altogether. It was nice to have that extra time for them to veg out, unfortunately they'd still gotten up early, I guess from the anticipation of starting school after the vacation, although not really a happy anticipation.

I went and got groceries for my empty fridge and cupboards, and then picked up the dog from the kennel. When the kennel owner went to let Clue out, it took him a long time to come out of his area, even though I was calling to him. He normally is soooooo hyper and all over me, whining, barking, etc. She noticed he was limping and that his hind leg was swollen. Said when he was running around the day before she hadn't noticed a limp. His leg was so swollen! He couldn't really walk on it, just used it for support. I immediately called the vet and they were getting ready to do a surgery, but put it on hold b/c they wanted to see him immediately. He curled up in the car and didn't make a peep the whole way there. Normally he is very whiny in the car and has to have the windows down so he can stick his head out. He had a high fever, and I left him there so they could take X-Rays and do some blood work. His bones were fine according to the X Rays, but he had a very low white blood cell count. His symptoms are very close to that of several tick bearing diseases such as lyme and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. The vet says it is very very rare for our area to have this, but it is not completely unheard of. It will take a while to determine what is going on with Clue, all we know right now is he has an infection. He is on 2 different antibiotics and a pain killer and is just so miserable. So far his swelling has not gone down, and all he does is lay on the couch all day. He is so listless. I think the fever may have gone down, as he doesn't feel as warm, but it's hard to know for sure without taking his temp. Oh, and the cat had a big gash on his head when we got home. I figured our other mean cat did it to him, and Micki's principal (our neighbor) told her yesterday that when he was walking his dog he saw a black & white cat attack Furby. Yep. That was Glacier our meanie cat. Furby is twice as big, but he does not know how to fight or protect himself, and the other neighborhood cats don't bother with him.

Ahhhh......well, once again I have neglected my blog. LOL There is so much going on in my life right now, that I don't think I could catch up on this if I wanted to. I have decided that I am OK with posting as often, or as little as I feel like.

The kids and I got back late Sunday night from our 2 weeks in TX with Chad. We left the San Antonio airport at about 80° and 3 flights later (ugh) arrived home with HUGE snowflakes swirling around us as we landed. It was beautiful, very cold though. The kids had a 2 hour delay going back to school yesterday, they were thrilled, but disappointed school wasn't canceled. LOL It started snowing again last night when I went to bed, but was just rain when I got up, it is sooooo windy and very rainy out right now, kind of a little sleety at times. The weather forecast is calling for blizzard conditions today in the higher elevations, so I am so glad I do not have to travel anywhere. I was thinking about going to Mike's in Portland to deliver the piano before we move, but that won't be happening during this weather for sure. There were some fatalities due to weather while I was gone, but I will not go into that here. It is too sad and depressing. We were lucky to have pretty smooth flights coming home. I wish we could just take one flight and get it over with, but that is tricky especially with our smaller airport. Even if they have direct flights to where we need to go, it is almost always more expensive than having connecting flights. The flight from S.A. to Denver was completely smooth and the only little bit of turbulence was our descent into Denver, and even that was hardly anything. It was 43°, sunny and only a skiff of snow here and there, contrary to the weather forecast which had called for colder weather and snow. The flight to San Francisco only had a tad bit of turbulence after takeoff (our flight was delayed an hour due to the captain not arriving in time - we were stuck on the plane for a while) and it was uneventful as well, just a bit of rain in S.F. after we landed. Our little turbo prop plane to Medford had just a bit of turbulence after take off, but really was only choppy here and there which is great considering the weather outside, it was raining like crazy and then eventually turned to snow the closer we got to home.
