We decided to go camping over labor day weekend. It was probably the best camping trip I've taken in years. I didn't pack as much as normal, didn't make as many food items, and it made it so much less stressful. We even ate out on our first night camping! We had three days to boat and relax and do nothing. We would take the boat out on Lake Shasta, anchor it and just laze around either in the boat or in the water. No hurry to launch our boat or to get back camping. So nice! The campground was so full and pretty loud at night with all the partying, but I didn't really mind. We also had to watch out for bears and keep all our stuff in the locked storage areas. I think that's part of what was so relaxing, everything was always kept put away and we cleaned immediately due to the bears, so we had more time to just have fun. One of the nights we heard somebody set off some fireworks. Turns out some teenagers were up to no good and one of them blew up an outhouse toilet. A witness saw him walk out of the outhouse with crap all over him from head to toe, so besides all the fines and possible jail time and such, he really got his just rewards! LOL We stayed until Tuesday and let me tell you, on Monday it was a ghost town! We were in the last camping area and the only other ones left camping were the hosts at the beginning of the camp ground. It kind of made for a sleepless night. We would wake up thinking either a bear was visiting (happened to us once before) or an ax murderer! LOL It's amazing what your mind thinks up when you're mostly asleep. ;)
The last week of August, a terrible hurricane came through Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama and really caused catastrophic situations. My thoughts and prayers are still with all of you who are affected by this. It is hard to really imagine what you are all going through, not being there and seeing it first hand. Special thoughts go to Denise and Pauline, my two online scrapbook friends who live there. Denise ~ I pray for you everyday regarding your living situation and I hope the very best for you. Pauline ~ I'm so sorry you had to go through such a stressful situation after just having surgery and I'm glad you were able to go back home. I love you both!

Wow! Here it is the 4th of October. I haven't written in my blog for over a month. So much has gone on since the last time I posted.
Let's see, how can I catch up on the last almost 2 months? We did go visit Chad's parents on the 13th and 14th of August. We had a good time, it was a nice visit. Saturday we went thunderegg hunting up in the boonies out of Madras. It was definitely 4 wheel drive country. We found a lot of blue eggs, but I HAD to go find the opal beds. Well, we wound up 4 wheeling in our Expedition on a one lane dirt - pot holed road, up the side of a cliff. If a car had been coming the other direction one of us would have had to back up the entire way. My MIL was screaming and we were both laughing so hard. She's really scared of heights. There was one point where Chad drove the car up over the top of a ridge and we had to take a sharp right or go over the edge on the other side. LOL!!! On Sunday we went to the fun center and did bowling, miniature golf, go-carts and water balloon fights. Fun. Oh, and I won ALL the games! Woo hoo!
