I started piecing a quilt block together today. It was a tricky one and I didn't complete it. Maybe tomorrow. Thursday I have a consultation appointment with the surgeon in the morning and then a job interview in the afternoon! I'm a bit nervous about that one - 3 panel interview and I want to leave a good impression.

So, a lot of things have been happening, although it still seems the same ol' same ol'. The kids and I left for Colorado to go to a family reunion in July/August - we had a great time at the reunion, it was so fun to see everyone and catch up. The reunion was almost a week long, and then we stayed for another 2 weeks at my parents. Being gone for 3 weeks at my parents was too long. I think just one extra week after the reunion would have been better, but that's all right, we had a good visit.
The kids started back to school the last week of August and are now a month into their studies. I'm not thrilled at all with the school system here, but it will be an uphill battle to fight it. I've seen some prejudices against the kids already (from adults, not other kids) because they're white. It's so ridiculous.
So, one other piece of news. I have a job interview set up Thursday! I was totally not looking for a job, although I was keeping my eye out in case I had to start due to the house not selling. It's really difficult to get a job here with no Spanish speaking skills, but this would be a job with the government. It just fell into my lap. I got a phone call from someone I'd met only once asking if I'd like to submit my resume and interview. They'd been asked if they knew anyone and for some reason thought of me. I'm nervous about getting the job more than not getting the job. The money would be nice though, from what I've read it looks like I'd be making double what I was at my last job, plus full benefits. I totally wasn't nervous about interviewing, since I am not desperate, but I was informed I would interview in front of a panel of 3. Now I'm nervous. LOL I have no idea what to expect. I ran out and bought an outfit to interview in since I have nothing really appropriate in my size. I lost a lot of weight since the last time I dressed up officey. You can't beat $2.49 for a skirt that started off at $39 at Ross! I got a blouse there for $9.99, and since I saved so much on the outfit I went ahead and got a FAB pair of shoes to go with for $14.99 and when I walked by the purse aisle - well I couldn't resist the purse that matched my shoes perfectly!!! I got it for $21.99 and normally it would retail for around $59. Ok, so those items weren't really about the interview, I just wanted them, and what a perfect excuse! LOL
Oh, wait. There is one other piece of news. I got a call this week from my Property Management lady (we took the house off the market and put it up for rent this month) that our house rented! We had 2 apps submitted 2 days after we put it on the rental market and one came back with flying colors. I just had to approve the amount of rent and they do have an Australian Shepherd dog that I approved with a non-refundable pet deposit. They want to move in by if not before the first. My friend met them while she was there painting and said they seemed like a really nice family. We shall see how it goes, but this will lift a HUGE financial strain off our shoulders.
